Sheppey Snow Buntings

A bright dry morning, so we ventured to Barton's Point on the Isle of Sheppey and was pleased to locate 7 Snow Buntings feeding in the area. Soon after we looked on the sea off at Leysdown where we counted over 70 Great Crested Grebes and 2 Red-throated Divers. In the fields, there were 520 Brent Geese. Following a scrummy apple slice from a Leysdown bakery each, we stopped in at Capel Fleet and from the raptor viewing mound located 4 Marsh Harriers, 1 Merlin, 2 Common Buzzards, 1 Little Egret and a distant 'escape' Harris Hawk.

Cemetery Birding

A very useful opportunity to spend some time this morning with the Hume's Warbler present at Ramsgate Cemetery. The bird performed very well to the attending small group of familiar Kent birders, calling regularly.
